The film was produced by Scottish couple Arabella Croft and Kieran Parker, who mortgaged their Glasgow home to raise £200,000 for production. The script was based on Parker's original concept, described as 'Platoon meets The Sixth Sense'. Filming took place in Scotland at the ruined WWII Edingham Munitions factory near Dalbeattie, a forest on the Balmaghie estate near Castle Douglas, and the Glasgow Film City studio complex, beginning in January 2007.
